Wamuran Irrigation Scheme

Superintendents representative services on Wamuran Irrigation Scheme (WIS), to supply recycled water to the farming sector within the Wamuran region. Implementation of this objective is being implemented under two contracts:
· Caboolture South STP Recycled Water Disinfection Facility: a construction-only contract to upgrade the Caboolture South Sewage Treatment Plant (CBSSTP) and Recycled Water Treatment Plant (RWTP) to reliably produce and supply recycled water to the WIS.
· Wamuran Irrigation Scheme: a D&C Master Agreement with a construction contract awarded for Stage 1 of the recycled water transfer and distribution network infrastructure from the CBSRTP to the various scheme participant delivery points.

The Aura Water project includes constructing a new 12ML water reservoir and installing 12 kilometres of OD660 MSCL water pipeline from the Ewen Maddock Water Treatment Plant to Aura in Caloundra South. Includes two HDD and two thrust bored sections.
​
The Harmony Water Project includes constructing a 12ML water reservoir at Tanawha and installation of 2.6 kilometres of DN450 and DN500 DICL water pipeline from the reservoir to Harmony in Palmview. Includes one HDD section

The Aura Wastewater project includes construction a new wastewater pump station and installation of 12.5 kilometres of OD900 and OD710 HDPE wastewater pipeline to transfer wastewater to our Kawana Wastewater Treatment Plant from Aura in Caloundra South. Includes four HDD sections.

· Wamuran Irrigation Scheme: a D&C Master Agreement with a construction contract awarded for Stage 1 involving 22km of pipeline between the Caboolture South Recycled Water Treatment Plant (RTP) and farm gates in the Wamuran region. Also development of Moodlu Quarry to a water storage facility with a 2ML flow balancing tank, distribution pump station and a floating pump station along with other critical infrastructure.

St Marys WRP: 48 ML/day ADWF biological nutrient removal plant with 140 t/week biosolids treatment using anaerobic digestion and thermal hydrolysis with energy recovery; and

Quakers Hill WRP: 38ML/day ADWF aerobic granular sludge plant with 10ML/day of biosolids and sewerage transferred for treatment at St Marys WRP.

The program adopted three new innovative wastewater process technologies, including the first installations into Australia. The three new technologies include:
-
Thermal Hydrolysis Process (THP) used for biosolids treatment to increase energy recovery from biogas recovery, reduce power consumption via a cogeneration plant and reduce cost of biosolids to landfill due to the improvement of biosolids quality and reduction in volume;
-
Aerobic Granular Sludge (AGS) used for biological nutrient removal with the benefit of reduced energy consumption, reduced footprint through elimination of secondary clarification and reduction in capital cost; and
-
Mechanical Primary Sedimentation (MPS) used to remove suspended solids from the primary treatment process, with the advantage over traditional primary sedimentation of a reduction in site footprint.
